blkXsgr photographer Matt Beard has been photographing music artists since the beginning of his career. Beginning in the early1990’s, Matt learned to fine tune the skill of shooting live performances by taking his 35mm film camera with him after his night-shift at A&I Photo lab in Hollywood, to photograph bands at the various nightclubs on the Sunset Strip and Hollywood area. He was a regular at the Whiskey A Go-Go, Dragonfly, The Viper Room, Raji’s, The Palladium, Largo, The Troubadour and any clubs that would allow him in with his camera. Eventually he began to approach bands and ask to shoot portraits of them, and do creative shots for their album artwork. Nearly 30 years later, and Matt still loves photographing musicians and live performances as much as he did when he first picked up a camera.
